Donald Trump will appear in Manhattan at a court for his arraignment regarding alleged hush funds paid to a porn actor before 2016’s election.
Trump is scheduled to be arraigned this morning and fingerprinted.
Trump’s first appearance before a judge and his first reading of a criminal charge document is called arraignment.
The Manhattan court will host the 76-year old on Tuesday at 6.30am (11.30am UK Time).
Although the case will be heard at 2.15pm US (UK time), it is possible that it could be heard earlier.
Former president will be returning to his Mar-a-Lago estate, Palm Beach, Florida at 8.15pm (UK time on Wednesday). , where he will address media.
His lawyers said that he would plead not guilty.
The details of the grand jury indictment are not known.
On Monday, New York police began to erect barricades at the edges of the pavements surrounding Trump Tower and Manhattan’s criminal court building.
There are likely to be demonstrations at these sites, and police say they will be prepared.
The New York Police Department stated in a statement that “Officers were placed on alert” and that the department is ready to respond as necessary.
A court official stated that other courts located on higher floors will be closed before the arraignment to protect the public.
The grand jury heard evidence before the indictment about $130,000 (PS105,000), paid to Stormy Daniels for an alleged payment of $25,000 to her as an adult film actress in the final days of the 2016 presidential campaign.
Ms. Daniels claimed she was paid to remain silent about a 2006 sexual encounter she had at Lake Tahoe Hotel with Trump.
Trump denied the encounter.
Trump was president from 2017 to 2021. In November , Trump launched a bid for retaking the presidency in 2024. This attempt to deny Democratic President Joe Biden another term.
The indictment was a result of an investigation by Alvin Bragg, Manhattan District Attorney. It was made public last Thursday.
Trump claims he is innocent, and he and his allies have made it clear that the charges are politically motivated.
Mr Bragg is a Democrat.

As he continues to run for the White House, the New York case is only one of many investigations that the Republican faces.
Georgia’s prosecutor is looking into Trump’s attempts to reverse his defeat in 2020 in Georgia.
The US Justice Department is currently investigating Trump’s actions during the 2020 election as well as his retention of highly classified documents following his departure from the White House in 2021.
A Trump lawyer Joe Tacopina said that the Secret Service, which protects former Presidents, had a role to fill on Tuesday. He also stated that it was unlikely that Trump would be paraded before the media because of security concerns.
CNN’s Mr Tacopina stated that he doesn’t know how the process will go. “I honestly don’t know how it is going to work – hopefully as smoothly and then we start the battle to correct this wrong.”
Trump’s lawyers would “dissect,” the indictment, once it has been made public. They will also examine “every possible issue” to contest.
He stated that he expected to make a motion to dismiss all the charges.
Trump will appear before Judge Juan Merchan. Merchan also presided over a criminal case last year in which Trump’s real estate company was convicted for tax fraud. Trump was not indicted in this case.
