Two teenage girls were stabbed as they walked to school in a small German town.
A police spokesperson said that both girls sustained serious injuries in Monday’s attack.
According to Bild, the attacker was carrying a knife.
Illerkirchberg was the scene of the attack, which occurred west of Munich and is home to around 5,000 people.
Wolfgang Juergens, a local police spokesperson, said that a suspect had fled to a nearby building.
He said that people inside the building were taken into police custody.
He didn’t confirm the number of people found or whether they were the attackers.
The motive behind the attack is still unknown by police.
