The Queen is to spend her Christmas Day with Prince Charles and Camilla.
The news was announced by a spokesman for Clarence House, the official London residence of The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall.
It would have been the Queen’s first Christmas without her husband Prince Philip who died last April aged 99.
The Queen had already cancelled the family’s traditional Christmas at Sandringham in Norfolk and decided to stay at Windsor Castle.
The decisions were made in the face on the on-going Covid-19 pandemic.
A senior palace source had told The Mirror:
“The pre-Christmas family lunch will not be going ahead.
“The decision is a precautionary one as it is felt to put too many people’s Christmas arrangements at risk if it went ahead.
“While there is regret that it is cancelled, there is a belief it is the right thing to do for all concerned.”
