Seven Christmas parties were allegedly held last year in Government departments.
The Conservatives have admitted one was hosted by its London mayoral candidate Shaun Bailey on December 14th, 2020.
During that time Britain was under lockdown.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson is under pressure to widen the investigation into a reported party in Downing Street.
Labour deputy leader Angela Rayner told the Today programme:
“It can’t be one rule for them.
“Any breaches of Covid restrictions last Christman should be dealt with.
“We’ve heard that it’s not even a one off, we’ve heard that there’s more than that and more parties, even one allegedly within the Prime Minister’s own flat.
“Absolutely the Cabinet Secretary should be [investigating those as well] because what Boris Johnson has done by his actions – this isn’t just your neighbour next door – this is the Prime Minister and Downing Street completely undermining the evidence and the guidance from the Chief Medical Officer and the scientists and that’s what people need to recognise”.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid said Simon Case – the Cabinet Secretary investigations the party claims – is “not fixated on a specific date and I think that’s really important”.
