Sir Elton John is to have a hip operation within the next few days.
The decision to have surgery follows him falling “awkwardly on a hard surface”.
The 74-year-old performer hopes to be “pain free” by Christmas.
Sir Elton said: “I’ve had to postpone limbo dancing for a little while.
“I’m going to have my hip operated on early in October.
“Then I shall be recuperating and doing my physiotherapy and hopefully I’ll be all right in a couple of months.
“So, fingers crossed.”
As part of his “Farewell Yellow Brick Road” tour, Sir Elton was hoping to play concerts in Europe and the UK during the autumn months.
But doctors recommended that he get the op “as soon as possible”.
