Prime Minister Boris Johnson paid for his wedding to fiancée Carrie Symonds out of his own pocket.
Asked about the costs a Number 10 spokesman said:
“The Prime Minister paid entirely for the wedding.”
The couple married in “secret” at Westminster Cathedral.
After the ceremony, they spent a “mini-honeymoon” at the seaside.
But the spokesman refused to say where.
He added:
“The PM spent Sunday and Monday away but is now back working from Downing Street.
“It [the destination] is a personal matter so I won’t be getting into any further detail.”
Upon marriage Ms Symonds has also taken Mr Johnson’s name.
