An estimated six million pints of beer were drunk in a day as lockdown measures were eased.
On the first Saturday since restrictions were lifted, the country celebrated outdoors in style.
Pubs ordered extra barrels and took on more staff to cope with the demand.
For many partygoers it was the first time to catch up with friends since Christmas and enjoy some Spring sunshine.
Shoppers also hit the High Street spending an estimated £1.6 billion in a day.
Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the British Beer & Pub Association, said:
“Pubs and pub-goers are looking forward to the first weekend drinks in months.
“We’re beginning to rebuild our businesses and reconnect our communities.”
