Business leaders have called on the Government to rescue Eurostar.
They claim the train link between the UK and Europe is “close to collapse” – crippled by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Eurostar is currently running just one service a day between London, Paris, and Brussels.
It would normally be running two trains an hour as well as offering journeys to the South of France.
The London First group has written to Chancellor Rishi Sunak and the Department for Transport urging “swift action to safeguard its [Eurostar] future”.
Twenty-five executives and business gurus have signed the letter.
They fear Eurostar will “fall between the cracks of support”.
Christophe Fanichet, head of SNCF Voyageurs, said:
“The company is in a critical state, I’d even say very critical.”
