Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab
A police protection officer has been suspended after his gun was found on a plane.
The officer had travelled with Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab from Washington to London Heathrow on United Airlines.
The gun – said to be a Glock 19 – was discovered by a cleaner in its holster in the toilet.
A Metropolitan Police spokesman said:
“We are aware of the incident on a flight into the UK on Friday 18 September and we are taking this matter extremely seriously.
“The officer involved has since been removed from operational duties whilst an internal investigation into the circumstances is taking place.”
The Sun reported the officer had taken off the firearm while sorting passports and preparing to escort Mr Raab off the flight.
