A BBC flagship news programme covered the death of basketball legend Kobe Bryant with a clip of another player.
The broadcaster apologised after showing pictures of LeBron James instead of Bryant.
BBC News at Ten led on the helicopter crash that killed the NBA legend and his 13-year-old daughter.
Seven other people also died in the incident in California.
When the BBC report looked back at the player’s stunning career with the LA Lakers it showed James in action not Bryant.
The footage even had shots of James with his name written on the back of his shirt.
James still plays for the Lakers. Bryant retired in 2016.
The BBC apologised later on-air in the bulletin for the mistake.
And Paul Royall, BBC News at Ten editor, wrote on Twitter:
“In tonight’s coverage of the death of Kobe Bryant on #BBCNewsTen we mistakenly used pictures of LeBron James in one section of the report.
“We apologise for this human error which fell below our usual standards on the programme.”
Bryant, a five-time NBA champion and two-time Olympic gold medallist, died alongside his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.
