Protests and outrage arose after the death of a 20 year-old Indian woman who was dragged for miles by a car after she was hit by it.
The collision occurred in west Delhi on New Year’s Day.
Local media reports that her body was found later without clothing and with severe injuries from being dragged many miles.
The five car’s occupants, who were going out for night snacks at night, were arrested by police.
According to reports, they claimed that they didn’t realize the horrendous reality of what happened after the collision.
Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi chief minister, called for “exemplary actions” against those responsible and “no leniency”.
The mother of the woman has demanded an investigation into her daughter and justice.
Amit Shah, the Home Minister, has ordered Sanjay Arora, Delhi Police Commissioner, to conduct an in-depth investigation into the case. This was despite massive protests from locals.
