According to Mykhailo Polyak, presidential advisor, Ukraine’s armed forces have already lost around 13,000 soldiers in the conflict against Russia.
His remarks are believed to be the first estimate for dead since August when the head of the Armed Forces stated that nearly 9,000 military personnel had died.
“We have official numbers from the general staff, and we have official numbers from the top command and they amount (between) 10,000 to 12,500 to 13,000 deaths,” Mr Podolyak stated to Kanal 24 channel.
He said, “We are open to talking about the death count,” adding that more soldiers were wounded than died.

The top American general said last month that Russia had lost more than 100,000 soldiers in Ukraine and that Kyiv’s military suffered similar losses.
Oleksiy Arestovych was another adviser to Volodymyr Zelenskyy. He claimed that the Russian death rate was seven times higher than that of Ukraine.
This comes just as Joe Biden’s and Emmanuel Macron’s vows to continue a united front against Russia in light of growing concerns about the US’s declining support for Ukraine’s war effort in Europe and the US.
French President, on a State Visit to the USA, stated: “What’s at stake in Ukraine? It is not just very distant from here, it is in a small country somewhere else in Europe.
It’s all about our values. It’s also about our principles.
“Our two countries are sisters in the struggle for freedom.”

Biden stated that he was willing to meet with Vladimir Putin, Russian President, if he showed that he truly wanted to end the invasion.
“I am open to speaking with Putin if he decides that he wants to end the war.
“He hasn’t done that yet.”
