A Russian warplane crashed into an apartment block, killing at least 13 people in Moscow.
According to the Russian Defence Ministry, a Su-34 bomber crashed in Yeysk, a result of an engine fire that occurred during takeoff for a training mission.
The pilot stated that both crew members had ejected. However, the plane crashed into a residential area and set off a fire. Tons of fuel ignited on impact.
After hours of digging through the debris, authorities discovered 13 bodies, including three children.
Another 19 were admitted to hospital with injuries.
Russian messaging app channels posted footage of a plane burst into flames as it was enveloped by flames.
Anna Menkova (Vice Governor of the Region) stated that three of the victims died after jumping from the nine-story roof in an attempt escape the flames.
More than 500 people were evacuated and given temporary accommodation.
According to the Kremlin, Russian President Vladimir Putin was made aware of the crash and sent the ministers for health and emergency along with the governor to the scene.
Yeysk is a large Russian airbase. It’s a 90000-strong city.
The Russian Air Force’s key strike component, the Su-34 twin-engine supersonic bomber is equipped with sophisticated sensors.
Russian forces fighting in Ukraine have used the aircraft extensively.

Monday’s incident marked the 10th non-combat accident of a Russian warplane reported since Moscow invaded Ukraine almost eight months ago.
