The cypher of King Charles III has been revealed – a design to be used by government departments, state documents and post boxes.

The King chose the cypher from a series prepared by the College of Arms.

It includes his initial “C” and “R” – Latin for Rex (king) – and III to donate he’s the third King Charles.

The cypher will, over time, replace Queen Elizabeth’s monogram.

New bank notes featuring a portrait of King Charles III are expected to be in circulation by mid-2024.

Existing bank notes will continue to be legal tender.

And, new stamps with the King’s head will also be introduced when current stocks run out.

The King’s cypher will be used from today (Tuesday) in the Buckingham Palace post room to frank letters.
