Wayne Couzens
Five serving police officers – including three from Scotland Yard – are being investigated for allegedly sharing “racist, misogynistic, and homophobic messages with jailed killer Wayne Couzens.
The messages were said to have been exchanged on WhatsApp.
They were found on Couzen’s mobile phone by detectives investigating the murder of Sarah Everard.
Couzens, 48, was jailed at The Old Bailey for the kidnap, rape and murder of 33-year-old Sarah.
He will serve all his life in prison.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct is investigating the messages.
They were allegedly shared in 2019 when Couzens was working in the Metropolitan force.
All the officers are being investigated for gross misconduct.
The three from the Metropolitan service are also being looked at on suspicion of improper use of the public electronic communications.
