The guitar played by Johnny Ramone has been sold for more than £656,000.
The 1965 Mosrite Ventures II instrument was used on all the Ramones 15 albums and 2,000 live performances.
The guitar was bought by an anonymous collector of rock memorabilia.
Johnny Ramone – real name John Cummings – bought the guitar to replace his original blue Ventures II that was stolen.
The new instrument was played at every Ramones performance from November 1977 until his retirement in August 1996.
Johnny Ramone died in 2004.
The Mosrite Ventures came from the collection of Daniel Rey, a musician, producer, and Ramones collaborator.
