A 14-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a man who was allegedly trying to protect his daughter.
James Markham was attacked near his home in Chingford, north east London.
He died from a single stab wound to his lung, a post-mortem examination revealed.
The youth has also been charged with having a knife in a public place.
A second 14-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder.
And a 16-year-old was held on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Both have been released while inquiries continue.
The police were called to Churchill Terrace in Chingford.
Mr Markham, 45, was attacked after reportedly trying to defend his daughter.
Passers-by tried to save Mr Markham – alongside officers and paramedics – but he died at the scene.
