Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for coronavirus.
He is showing “mild symptoms”.
Through his Twitter feed Mr Johnson said he had experienced “a temperature and persistent cough” over the last 24 hours.
On the advice of the chief medical officer he took a test for Covid-19 which confirmed he had the virus.
According to Downing Street, the Prime Minister is continuing to lead the Government’s coronavirus response
Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus.
I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus.
