A decision on Huawei working on the UK’s 5G network is on hold until after the general election.
Former Prime Minister Theresa May had given the Chinese tech firm the green light to work on the rollout.
But new Prime Minister Boris Johnson is keen not to upset US President Donald Trump.
America believes Huawei uses its systems to spy on the countries it works in.
The firm is already under hefty sanctions in America, and Trump wants the world to follow suit.
However, MPs and intelligence chiefs suggest there is no technical reason to exclude Huawei from 5G.
They add that the decision is a political one.
Mr Johnson is also eager not to upset the Chinese as post Brexit trade deals are in the offing.
Huawei has strongly denied the US allegations.
